RVAgreen 2050 Climate Equity Index

Residents and planners in Richmond, Virginia, can use this tool to explore factors—including social equity—that could make their neighborhood more susceptible to impacts from climate change and other health and natural crises.

This interactive mapping tool using ESRI technology was created by the City of Richmond Office of Sustainability as part of RVAgreen 2050, the City of Richmond’s equity-centered climate action and resilience planning initiative.

The tool allows all audiences to explore a neighborhood’s climate impacts, demographics, built assets, and natural resources and how susceptible they are to crises such as climate change or the COVID-19 pandemic. Users can also explore these factors within the historical and current context of institutional racism that has created many inequalities and caused Black or African American and Hispanic and Latino communities to be more vulnerable to harm.
